The orbital shaker is a medical equipment used in the laboratories, clinics and others; for mixing, homogenizing and/or preparing combinations of substances. There is a great variety of presentations of this equipment and they depend mostly on its size and if its speed is fixed or adjustable.
This equipment consists of a time control which can be adjusted as needed, in the same way some have a speed control which can be adjusted as required. In the upper part there is a platform where the sample holders are placed, which has a non-slip material.

Recommendations for use

It is important that the following recommendations are taken into account for the proper use of this equipment:

a) The orbital shaker must be covered with a cloth cover to protect it from dust accumulation.

b) Whenever any substance is spilled on the platform, it must be dried quickly to prevent the non-slip material from deteriorating.

c) Check that the surface where the equipment is located is perfectly level, since the rotation would not be uniform and the samples could spill.

d) Check the operation of the equipment by performing the following steps:

− Place the samples on the platform properly.
− If the equipment has a cover, put it on.
− Turn on the power switch, previously setting the time and/or speed according to the procedure you are using.
− Carefully observe the operation, if there is no problem, continue with your work.
Most problems can be corrected in a timely manner, as long as they are promptly reported to specialized maintenance personnel.

Operator Preventive Maintenance

a. Weekly with a cloth moistened with water, clean the equipment superficially, drying it afterwards with a dry cloth. If you have stains, use a little detergent with a cloth slightly dampened with water. If the non-slip material on the deck can be removed, do so and wash it.

b. Check the operation of the mechanical parts of the equipment:

Platform, axles and gears, lubricate if necessary.

c. Check the speed and time controls to determine if you are hitting the set times and speeds.

d. Check the electrical supply of the equipment to detect possible peeling, cuts or degradation of the insulating material of the conductor.
and. It is important that when you have a problem with the equipment, report it immediately to specialized maintenance personnel.
