Particle Size Analysis Methods

The tamaño de las particulas es una palabra común y contiene una gran variedad de tamaños de sustancia, se utilizan varios métodos para determinar el tamaño de las particulas, sólo algunos son fundamentales, es decir, no necesitan calibración mediante otros métodos, el método microscópico es one of them. However, it is used as a common measurement method in many fields.

There are several methods used for particle size analysis besides laser diffraction. Sieving is the oldest method which is still generally used for relatively large particle sizes, ie. > 1 mm and to measure small particles this is the case. <0.5um, dynamic light scattering is the easiest method to use.

Mentioned below are some methods for the determination of particle size which are as follows.

1. Optical microscopy

3. Sedimentation method

4. Cup counter method

5. LASER diffraction method
