Properties of colloids

The presence of a charge on the colloidal particles gives them electrical properties. At the point where it is exposed to an electric potential, it can be forced to move in the direction of the reverse charging electrode. This is known as electrophoresis and can be used to separate a mixture of colloidal substances, for example proteins.
